We Need to Be Careful.

51c546373fb8e_pEnvironmentalism is a growing issue in a lot of people’s minds, but it’s been a concern to me for a long time. How long do people have? Will I experience a great tragedy? Will my kids? And if not me or my kids, then who? And even more important, who would survive?
I would like to think that all the good people (a term I use in order to avoid offending anyone) would survive and all the bad people would get the short end of the stick and then ultimately all the good people would get together and we would have an elysium like paradise where, as time went on, plants would overtake the cities and we could be happy forest people. I feel like it might actually be the other way around though… Maybe instead, the rich factory owners (responsible for putting out pollution in the first place)  would find a way to survive, using other, “lesser” people as stepping stones. Maybe they would go to mars, populate it, and make the same mistakes all over again?
Honestly, neither of these situations are really ideal to me though. In my opinion, it’s time to wise up. You can easily create something beautiful from things that are around you, but what it takes is for many people all to work together to create something beautiful– world peace, a group effort to make cleaner energy, put our earthly brothers and sisters ahead of industry.

But it’s not just that, is it? I mean, these problems don’t happen to other species…
Most people vehemently disagree with me on this, but I very much believe that many of the problems in the world today are caused by overpopulation. There’s too many people, not enough earth, and almost no chances of the numbers dropping unless we all just kill each other. I wish everyone just had the good sense to stop having so many kids, but you all know that it’s impossible to get everyone together on an issue… So I don’t think it’s so crazy to have a bit of legislation to help us all out.
Now, people immediately throw up China as an example of what might happen, but are we really going to base our laws on what happens in a communist and sexist country? (I know, this is coming from the person you all think is a crazy socialist) Chinese people don’t want daughters because daughters are pretty much useless, so they get rid of the baby girls, but we’re not like that, or at least I would hope that we’re not. There would simply be a law against intentionally or irresponsibly having more than two children, and if someone slipped off they would just be fined and it would be done with. Some might say this would lead to the rich having more children, but the fine would be proportionate to the house hold income. It could all make sense…. But it probably won’t ever happen.

  2. We may have impacted our environment greatly, but the truth of this matter, I believe, is that if we are indeed just a speck in our planet’s timeline, and destroy ourselves by damaging our environment, nature will bounce right back. Once we’re gone, she will prove herself to be the greatest survivor. And while I do advocate for the use of more efficient fuels, and want to fight against pollution, habitat destruction, and all things similar, I take comfort in knowing that when I’m gone, when humanity is gone, nature will survive.

    write on, my friend~
